Vote for OpenCongress!

After some e-encouragement from a professor, I checked out OpenCongress.org, a “free, open-source, non-profit, and non-partisan web resource with a mission to make Congress more transparent and to encourage civic engagement.” It is fantastic!
With OpenCongress you can create your own account and easily track your favorite bills, Members of Congress, committees, industries, and issues. It will even track news articles and blog posts that reference your selections.
I’m currently working on three papers that each involve currently pending bills and OpenCongress has been a lifesaver. At any time I can quickly find the text of the bill, its status in Congress, voting results, sponsors, related issues, and more!
Now OpenCongress needs our help. Vote for the new OpenCongress proposal that will make it easier to track your interests in Congress in the NY2Y3 Mashup Challenge. The goal of the competition is to:
- Develop a catalogue of mashups built by and for social-change groups
- Identify and organize open data sets available for social-benefit organizations to use for their Mashups.
- Mobilize Business Analysts, Product Managers, and Software Developers in cross-sector collaboration.
The top projects will receive up to $100,000 in prize money. Take two seconds to create an account and vote now!
