The SIM Card Spy

The SIM Card Spy is a new accessory for cell phones that allows you to back-up SIM information so you never lose phone numbers or, more interestingly, to access all files stored on the phone’s SIM card– even the deleted ones!  Here’s how it works:

What a great way to make sure you never lose your numbers!  Or to be a creepy stalker.

For $149.00, this new gadget can be yours.

I find it interesting that the advertising for the SIM Card Spy includes the following: “Executives can ensure their employees are not sending trade secrets or activity which can be harmful to the company.”  Trade secrets?  Via text messaging?  My friend Lexis assures me that there have been no cases involving this problem yet (although text messages frequently do play a role in discovery).  I’m guessing that most people who buy this aren’t looking for trade secrets…

    $149 is incredibly overpriced. SIM cards are solid-state memory. This is really just a simple SIM card reader with a program to read disassociated files. There are probably 50 of such programs available for free pending a 30 second google search.

    It’s also misleading; a full SIM card does not/can not store deleted information.

    One wholesaler demands we list them for $149, however, we have them for $139 on our website. It’s also a device that you insert the SIM card into and then put it in the USB drive. It’s not just freeware; w/o the reader, you can’t read the card.

    Also just like a computer, as long as the deleted text is not over written, you CAN pull it up, so check your facts Frank… We sell tons of these with many happy customers that do view the deleted text messages that are not overridden.
