Patent, Copyright, Internet, Et Alia

LG Electronics is a leader in collaborating with other companies partnering last week with the sixth largest US corporation, GE.  Both companies are able to use the refrigerator and cooking appliance patents of the other without paying a royalty.  Wikinomics authors Dan Tapscott and Anthony Williams contend that sharing intellectual property is one of four principles that will help companies survive the Web 2.o world (the others being openness, peer production, and global awareness).  Previously LG has partnered with Matsushita, Microsoft and Intel.  Will sharing pay off for LG in the new 2.o world of innovation?  I think so.
